Ministry of the Mind Blog/hypnotherapy/How meaning shapes our lives

In our Breakthrough Broadcast this week on 'The Hypnotic Power of Love', Nicholas spoke about 'meaning making'. How we are in every moment finding meaning in what is happening around us and to us. He also explained how our perception of that moment creates the meaning that we attach to it. Therefore we can if we can look at an event from another perspective we can change the meaning.
Below is a metaphor that i have written for a new book that I am creating, that is along the same lines as Nicholas's talk.
In two parallel dimensions, two men had lived parallel lives. They had both had experienced exactly the same love and kindness and suffered exactly the same traumas, emotional and physical pain and losses.
Now in old age, in one dimension one of the men was homeless and living on the street, his physical scars and emotional pain clear for all to see. He was as miserable as a man could be.
In the other dimension the other old man who had lived and experienced the same life, lived in a beautiful house. He was fit and well and surrounded by wonderful creative people. He was known throughout the world and sought after for his wisdom and knowledge.
Source power had watched both lives from above and given both men the same life experience.
The homeless man had decided to carry each wound he had received through the traumas he had experienced as a badge, which he displayed to everyone who would listen. He focused on the pain he had suffered and asked and received sympathy from many.
The wise man had decided to learn from the pain and suffering he had experienced and as painful and traumatic as his life had been at times he had grown and learned from each experience, each of his scars a reminder of a lesson learned a trial overcome and proof of his inner strength.
Two parallel lives, two different outcomes.

The same wind blows on everyone, it’s not the blowing of the wind that determines our destination, but the setting of the sail.
